Always Start With A Plan

In any project you tackle, you always want to start with a plan. It is way too easy to start something and get lost in the process. Starting with a plan will help keep you on track, organized, motivated, and ensure you reach your goal in a timely manner. Some aspects of your plan you may want to consider could be:

  • Set aside a specific time to work
  • Go through paperwork
  • Clear out closets
  • Check equipment
  • Go through office supplies
  • And more

Once you have a plan set in space, you are ready to tackle your office cleanout!

Check Your Equipment

If you are working from home, it’s an absolute must to have working equipment. Make sure you check each item in your office to make sure it’s running and running well. This is also the time to make a list of any new items you may need. If your computer is starting to run slow or your printer needs ink, mark these things down. It’s also a good idea to consider your furniture. Maybe your office chair has always been uncomfortable, or maybe you need a new chair mat for easier movement. This is your opportunity to upgrade these items if needed.

Clear Out Old Files

If you keep hard-copy files in your office, a clean-out is the perfect time to sort through all those papers. Depending on your job, you may have different policies or legal requirements for keeping paperwork. Go through your files with this in mind and shred or get rid of anything you can. This frees up much-needed space while seriously improving the organization. It can be a nightmare searching through a mountain of files for that one piece of paperwork you need. Set yourself up for success by getting rid of any outdated files.

Sort Your Clutter

It can be really helpful to sort things as you go. A good piece of advice is to create three piles, one for items to keep, one to donate, and one to trash. Make sure you make your piles distinct so things don’t get mixed up. Once you have your donations and trash set aside, you will see more clearly where you can put back those items you want to keep. When it comes time to deal with those donations and trash piles, call 1st Class Junk Removal! We can remove these items for you and see to it that they get exactly where they need to go, saving you time and hassle.

You are now all set to enjoy your new and improved office space; congrats!
